Ohio First STEM Scholarship, University of Akron, USA

Description
There are currently over 300 scholars participating in the program and receiving a scholarship of up to $5200 annually with the anticipation of over 400 scholars in 2012-2013.  The program also provides intrusive support services that have led to a persistence/graduation rate over 90 percent.

Eligibility
  • Intend to pursue a bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)  field
  1. Biological sciences
  2. Physical sciences, including physics, chemistry, astronomy and materials sciences
  3. Mathematical sciences
  4. Computer and information sciences
  5. Geosciences
  6. Engineering
  7. Technology areas associated with the preceding fields (example: biotechnology, chemical technology, engineering technology, information technology, etc.)
  8. Teacher education/preparation in one of the above fields
  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  •  A resident of Ohio
  • Must maintain a full-time student enrolled status
  • Continued progress towards achieving a degree in a STEM field of study
  • Maintain good academic standing
