India Innovation Award is a Indian scientific award that celebrates, encourages and inspires innovation in Indian scientific community working in government funded or not-for-profit research institutes in India. The awards are given to recognize individuals or groups who have innovated for the benefit of the society and have patented or published in reputed journal. The purpose of the award is to encourage innovation that will have a positive impact on the future of innovation in the scientific community. Unlike other Awards this award focuses mainly on innnovation in lifescience sector.
Eligibility
- Any Indian or foreign nationals working in government funded or not-for-profit research institutes in India.
- The Patent has been granted or paper published in reputed scientific journals between 1st January, 2011 to 31st December 2011.
- The patent/publication covers the field of Innovation in the areas of Life Science i.e. Green Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical and Bioanalytics, Proteomics, Genomics, Drug Discovery and Delivery, Biomanufacturing, Biomarkers and Synthetic Biology.
- The list of reputed scientific journals for publication section are: Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Cell, Chemistry & Biology, International Journal of Biological Science, International Journal of Life Science, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Genetics, Journal of Molecular Biology, Life Science, Molecular & Cellular Proteomics, Molecular Cell, Nano Letters, Nature Journals, Proceedings of National Academy of Science and Science.
- The patent/publication should be either a new product or process. It should contribute towards improving the quality of life and help in employment generation and achieve economical transformation among others.
- The general criteria applied in selecting the patent/publication would depend upon the impact level, creativity, outreach & sustainability.
- Merck employees & SAB member’s direct relatives are not eligible for the award.
