The College of Education offers scholarships for entering freshmen, enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students in the COST overseas student teaching program. The College of Education has both needs-based and not-needs-based scholarships.
Eligibility
All College of Education scholarships require that candidates meet the following requirements:
- Must be an outstanding student academically
- Must be dedicated to teaching, continuing professional work in the field of Education, or another program area supported in the college (Students in non-certification programs are eligible for several COE scholarships.)
- Must have evidence of strong leadership qualities
- Must be enrolled as a graduate student in the College of Education, and must maintain progress in the program, based on requirements (Most graduate scholarships allow for part-time enrollment.)
- Must file a complete application packet, within the posted deadline
- If awarded a College of Education Scholarship, the student is expected to attend the annual scholarship appreciation banquet, (to be held next Fall), and must write a letter acknowledging receipt of the scholarship.
Application Procedure
A COMPLETED COLLEGE OF EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PACKET INCLUDES:
- A completed Application Form (page 1 of this packet)
- A completed College of Education Basic Information Form (included in this packet)
- A letter of application introducing the candidate and outlining career goals (The letter should be a single spaced, typed using a 12 point font, and one page in length.)
- A professional resume
- A letter of recommendation (Currently enrolled students who have completed at least 6 hours of work in their program should request a recommendation from program faculty. Applicants who have completed less than 6 hours of work toward their program should request a recommendation from either an employer or professor connected to their most recent academic work. In either case, the person from whom the recommendation is obtained should be able to evaluate and speak about the applicant’s ability to succeed in a graduate program.)
- A current transcript
- A completed Financial Information Form included in this packet. (Applicants who do not complete this form will not be considered for needs-based scholarships.)
