CASP is a not-for-profit charitable trust carrying out field, literature and analysis-based geological research in prospective hydrocarbon basins. Based in Cambridge, the organisation originated as the Cambridge Arctic Shelf Programme. Since incorporation in 1988 with charitable status CASP has greatly increased its scope, diversifying to new methods of data presentation and areas of research to include Siberia, the Black Sea, parts of North Africa and the Middle East.
As part of its support for geoscience research and education, CASP is inviting applications from students for a scholarship to study for a Masters Degree in Petroleum Geoscience at a UK University for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Eligibility
The scholarship will be available to UK/EU applicants with 1st/2.1 BSc degrees and applicants are required to propose their own research project.
Application Procedure
Applicants should provide the following as three separate Pdf-documents as attachments to scholarship@casp.cam.ac.uk with 'CASP Scholarship-surname of applicant' in the e-mail subject line.
- A CV detailing educational and other achievements: predicted grades should be included where appropriate (maximum 2 pages, document name 'applicant surname-cv')
- A statement of research interests and an outline of the field-based project that is proposed (maximum 2 pages, document name 'applicant surname-proposal')
- Confirmation of which university degree programme is being applied for (document name 'applicant surname-course') Applicants should also ask an academic referee to send a separate reference in support of the application with the applicant’s surname in the message header and/or reference document name.
