Description
The Oxford Kobe scholarships were established in 1994 to enable academically gifted Japanese graduate students to study at the University of Oxford.
The Oxford Kobe scholarships are funded by an endowment managed by the University of Oxford. It was created by a benefaction given by St Catherine's College and offered with the approval of the Kobe Institute and the Japan Foundation.
One award is normally tenable at St Catherine's College and the award holder will be expected to transfer to St Catherine's if the award is accepted.
Eligibility
The Oxford Kobe Scholarships are open to Japanese nationals who are applying to start a new degree bearing graduate course in any subject, with the exception of PGCert and PGDip courses, at Oxford. Applicants should not be intending to exercise in Great Britain the skills which may be obtained as a result of the Scholarship.
Application Procedure
Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Oxford Kobe Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.
In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline (6 January 2012 for Medical Sciences and Philosophy; 20 January 2012 for all other subjects) and you must have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (17 March 2012). Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
